Gray

oh, joyful grayness!

i fall into your arms as

my body rests

comfortably

in my chair...

i do not chew your

grimness as

forecast,

nor swallow

with delight

your bleakness,

that cushions

only into stillness...

i pound out

a reality that

skitters between

the black and

the white

troughs...

i bland,

then blend...

i eat humility,

as I regurgitate

mind

flow that

sojourns into

blood red

heart...

red splattered

droplets

like rubies...

that freckle

gray into beauty,

turned

into comfort

in message,

as soul

into heart.

Gray...

by any measure

you are me,

a

mysterious,

compliant,

defiant...

void

of color,

no apology

just there...

Gray...

a hedge

against

remorse,

speaks...

bluntly

crinkled,

never

submitting...

but, to its own

right to be!

what it is,

that is...

Gray!
